The Shaughnessy PAC is excited to announce two returning after-school programs for Fall 2026: Lights Up Musical Theatre and Young Rembrandts.
We’re also pleased to offer a new First Aid & CPR Course for students ages 9+ on November 20 Pro-D Day.
These groups operate independently as third-party vendors. The VSB, Shaughnessy Elementary, and the Shaughnessy Elementary PAC are not responsible for their performance.
LIGHTS UP MUSICAL THEATRE
Sing. Dance. Act. Shine!
At Lights Up Afterschool, your child can experience the joys and benefits of musical theatre by taking part in our afterschool programs led by our talented and experienced Lights Up Musical Theatre Schools’ staff.
These classes are a unique introduction to our weekend musical theatre programs and provide students with an enriching, rewarding, and most of all, fun afterschool activity right at the bell!
FALL SHOW: HERCULES!
This Fall, join Lights Up Afterschools as we travel way, way back... to Ancient Greece! Inspired by the animated film of the same name, “Hercules” is full of daring heroes, hilarious sidekicks, and menacing monsters. Our afterschool students will sing, dance, act, and shine in a mythical musical that is sure to “go the distance”!
Students will be supervised from dismissal. No need to pick up your child until 5:15 pm!
Performance on the last day of classes for friends and family!

YOUNG REMBRANDTS
Grades K to 1
Encourage your young learner’s love of art! This fall, YR introduces drawing lessons designed to build fine motor skills and a love for creativity. Our friendly Llama drawing will introduce students to basic shapes, line control, and simple composition. Seasonal favourites like Apple Trees and Acorns help reinforce pattern, colour recognition, and foundational art vocabulary in a way that is exciting. Each lesson is carefully crafted to nurture creativity while strengthening important developmental skills.
Grades 2 to 6
New lessons every session! Back-to-school season is bursting with creativity at YR! During this session, students will explore a fascinating world of characters, patterns, texture, and vibrant colour. Our Pizza and Pirate Ship drawings will focus on proportions, details, and shading techniques, while students will practice expressions with our adorable Baby Sloth lesson. Each lesson blends imagination with strong art fundamentals.

First Aid & CPR Course - Pro-D Day
The Shaughnessy PAC is pleased to offer a First Aid & CPR Course for students ages 9 and older on the Friday, November 20 Pro-D Day.
This fun and interactive course will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., following Shaughnessy’s regular school-day hours and schedule. Students will learn practical first aid skills and practise techniques with one another under the guidance of a Canadian Red Cross Training Partner instructor. Participants will receive a certificate upon completion.
Course topics include:
Bike and fire safety
Calling 911
Check, Call, Care
Unconsciousness
Choking
CPR for adults and children
Asthma
Anaphylaxis
Minor cuts
Severe bleeding
Nosebleeds
Date: Friday, November 20, 2026 – Pro-D Day
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Fee: $28 per student

The course will be led by one instructor, and we will need a parent volunteer to provide student supervision during recess and lunch. The day will follow Shaughnessy’s usual recess and lunch schedule.
